The rust destroying primer for iron and steel
surfaces

For structural

For motor vehicle bodywork
|
RUSTROY
is intended primarily for application to
rusty or rust-free iron or steel surfaces
but in the case of structures consisting
of a mixture of materials, it will do no
harm if applied over the edges of brass,
copper, aluminium or wood, where it will
simply act as a primer. It can be applied
over intact paintwork and can even be used
on slightly damp metal or in humid conditions
without detriment to its performance.
RUSTROY is particularly effective in highly
corrosive industrial or marine atmospheres.
Some typical applications are: structural
steelwork or ironwork of all kinds, including
load-bearing stanchions and roof-trusses;
cranes; ships superstructures; vehicle bodies;
chemical plant and pipework; machine bodies
and frames; bins and tanks; agricultural
machinery; gates; railings; gutterings;
garden-tools, etc.
RUSTROY is unsuitable for application to
machined bearing surfaces of precision working
parts, because it etches and coats the surface.
|
One of the most attractive features of RUSTROY,
particularly for routine maintenance purposes,
is its ease of application and great tolerance
of unsatisfactory working conditions. There are
only four
simple steps:
|

For ships' superstructures
|
RUSTROY can be applied by brush, swab or
spraygun. Small articles can even be dipped.
RUSTROY is supplied ready for use - no addition,
dilution or stirring is required.
After treatment with RUSTROY, iron or steel
surfaces quickly change in colour to deep
blue or purple indicating the formation
of the protective iron-tannate compound.
The surface can become touch-dry in as little
as 20 minutes.
|
|
The dried RUSTROY coating should be painted
over with protective and/or decorative paint
suitable for use on metal. It is not necessary
to wash down or carry out any other treatment
before painting and RUSTROY is compatible
with almost all paint systems including
paints, enamels and lacquers based on red-lead,
zinc-chromate, calcium-plumbate, aluminium
or zinc powders, chlorinated rubber, polyurethane,
epoxies, phenolics, polyesters, alkyds,
cellulose, etc.
More detailed Instructions for use are
supplied with every pack of RUSTROY.
